Estate Planning Attorney for Boynton Beach
Simani Law, PA helps Boynton Beach residents plan for incapacity and for what happens after they are gone, and supports families through probate. Our office is at 7777 Glades Road, Suite 100, in Boca Raton, reachable from Boynton Beach on I-95 or Florida's Turnpike, and most meetings can be held by video. You work directly with attorney Sarah Simani, Esq., who is licensed in Florida and New York.
Planning for incapacity, not just for death
Many plans focus on who inherits and overlook the more likely problem: a stroke, a fall or a dementia diagnosis that leaves someone unable to manage their own affairs. Without a durable power of attorney and a health care surrogate designation, a family may have to ask a court to appoint a guardian, a process that is public, slower and supervised every year. Signing these documents while you are healthy is the simplest way to keep decisions in the hands of the people you choose. See guardianship in Florida.
Keeping documents current
A plan signed ten or twenty years ago may name a personal representative or agent who has since died or moved away, refer to accounts that no longer exist, or predate a remarriage or new grandchildren. Florida also has specific rules for powers of attorney, and older or out-of-state documents are not always accepted by Florida banks. A review shows what still works and what should be updated.
How we help Boynton Beach residents
Will-based plans: a last will and testament, durable power of attorney, health care surrogate designation and living will
Trust-based plans: a revocable living trust, pour-over will and deeds that move your home into the trust
Probate and trust administration: guidance for personal representatives and successor trustees after a death in Palm Beach County
Guardianship: help when a loved one can no longer manage on their own and no planning documents are in place
Meet in person or by video
Your first conversation, document review and plan design can all happen by video or phone, which is often easier for adult children who live out of town and want to join. Most clients come to the Boca Raton office once, for the signing. See what to expect at your first consultation.
